Extreme G, Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls Hit Nintendo Switch Online
An unexpected pair of games landed on Nintendo Switch Online this evening. Nintendo throws us some curveballs now and then but usually those balls aren’t literal. Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls is now on NSO, originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 1999 — and a pretty darn original title for the system. It’s a racing game where you play as one of many wacky heads rolling down a curving, looping track. You must avoid not only enemies and obstacles but your fellow racers, who can knock you off if they feel like it. However, it’s possible to roll off track on purpose and find a shortcut, turning a fail into a victory. The multiplayer mode supports up to four players in split-screen. Who needs to race in a vehicle when you’re spherical? Ball out with Iggy and his eclectic reckin’ crew as you smash and swing your way through vertical races set on a series of towering tracks. Take shortcuts, zip through loops and avoid enemies bent on stopping your ascent
DC Comics Solicitations July 2024
July is the month everything busts loose with DC’s biggest crossover event of 2024: Absolute Power! Amanda Waller has at last found a way to achieve her dreams of world domination: by stealing the powers of the greatest heroes on Earth (and the villains, for good measure) and transplanting them into her willing robotic servants! She executes her plan in ABSOLUTE POWER #1, out July 3. Can no one stop her? Well, Batman has never needed powers to kick evil around…. We’ll see how Waller’s domination has affected individual heroes in the TASK FORCE VII series, to be released weekly. In issue 1, on July 10, Earth has a new Superman and he’s not a friendly one. THE LAST SON begins his reign of terror and starts hunting down the remaining superheroes who can oppose Waller. In Issue 2, on July 24, Aquaman has been displaced by DEPTH CHARGE, Waller’s custom Amazo Robot who now possesses Curry’s physical AND political powers. And in Issue 3 on July 31, Waller’s Green
Microsoft Introduces X-Men 97 XBox Series X And Controllers
X-Men 97, currently running through its first season on Disney+, is a spectacular revival of one of the 90s’ most beloved cartoons. I suppose we can count the C-suite at Microsoft among their fans, as they’ve just revealed a special XBox Series X with a custom paint job in honor of the series. The special design is a series of comic panels depicting the X-Men battling the Sentinels and Master Mold that wraps around the console’s shell. It wasn’t ripped from a comic, it was written by Rich Douek and drawn by artist Paco Diaz specifically for this console. And that’s not all! Microsoft also went through the trouble of painting eleven XBox controllers in the colors of every X-Men member from the show. Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Morph, Magneto, Jubilee, Gambit, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Beast and Bishop are all represented and come sealed in blister packages. Sounds great, so where can you buy them? ….Um, nowhere. This isn’t a product intended for sale. It’s a contest prize. To enter, you
Metaphor ReFantazio Releases October 11
Looks like Atlus is almost ready to release Metaphor ReFantazio, the fantasy RPG from the creators of Persona. The game was given an Ocrober release date and a new trailer this afternoon. In case you’ve been wondering why there hasn’t even been a hint of Persona 6 in years, it’s because we’re getting this instead. The presentation and aesthetic feels a lot like Persona and so do the battle mechanics. Socializing with NPCs is also said to be an important part of the game (just like Persona). The only major difference is the setting, trading Persona’s more modern locale for a series of fantastical areas. The king is dead. Long live….who? Maybe it’ll be you. The throne is up for anyone to take, provided they can make a good enough impression to voters. This, of course, is easier for the rich and aristocratic than it is for your lower-class character, who will have to travel all over the country drumming up support. One way to earn a lot of favor
Embracer Lets Go: Swedish Megacorp Splits Into Three
A couple years ago an investment firm emerged from Sweden with the sinister name of Embracer Group. The company proved their name by going on an insane purchasing spree across the globe, buying out dozens of other companies in an incredibly short time. Embracer’s entire plan hinged on the belief that rich Saudi investors would pick up the tab. They did not. It’s a blessing in disguise that Embracer failed, because if this scheme hadn’t collapsed, having one corporation control all those others wouldn’t have been good for anyone but the handful at the top. They have announced plans to break the company up into three smaller ones, which are still comparatively large, but not AS large. The names they picked for these companies are…interesting. (Even more interesting than “Embracer Group.”) Tabletop games publisher Asmodee will once again be its own entity, but it will also be the umbrella for all the other tabletop IPs Embracer bought, including Ticket to Ride, 7 Wonders, Azul, CATAN, Dobble and Exploding Kittens, as
Deadpool and Wolverine villain revealed
Deadpool and Wolverine trailer unveiled the movie’s villain: a character tied to the beloved universe but bent on evil. This film is directed by Shawn Levy. He collaborated with Ryan Reynolds before in Project Adam and Free Guy. This film signifies the end of the Foxverse Marvel era before the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse begins. It’s satisfying to see Wolverine don his iconic Yellow and Blue tights, especially after the Brian Singer X-Men movies tried to downplay his costume with leather outfits. While rumors swirl about actors for the MCU’s X-Men, Hugh Jackman returns for this film, set in a separate continuity. Despite Wolverine’s demise in Logan, this movie is a prequel to that storyline. Additionally, Daphne Keene reprises her role as X-23 in this installment. Ryan Reynolds, being a fan of the comics, made him do more justice to the X-Men members he utilized in this film franchise. So, he has been the best actor and producer for the Deadpool Trilogy. The trailer reveals the villain of the movie. The use
Come Back Alive: Two People Opt for a ‘Return Experience’
“Come Back Alive” was released in 2016, has 16 episodes, is categorized as Comedy, Fantasy or Supernatural, Romance and Family, and streaming on Viki. It is based on the Japanese novel titled “Mr. Tsubakiyama’s Seven Days”. (Alternate title: ‘Come Back Mister’ or ‘Please Come Back, Mister’.) ♦ Two People Who Met in the Afterlife Come Back Alive for a Return Experience In “Come Back Alive”, two people who never knew each other, Kim Young-Soo and Han Gi-Tak, meet each other in the afterlife. They both jump off the train headed for heaven and sign a contract with an angel for a “Return Experience”. The angel warns them that the “experience” will be scarier than they can imagine. Also, there are certain rules they can not violate, such as taking revenge. But the angel could not dissuade them. They were desperate to go back and take care of their unfinished business. Kim Young-Soo was overworked and that was slowly killing him. However, he accidentally fell from the roof of a building
Marie Claire Lists versus PopGeeks Reviews: K-Dramas on Amazon Prime
Marie Claire is a site primarily aimed at a female audience. But of course, all visitors are welcome. MC shares a lot of content about celebrity news, entertainment, etc., and like PopGeeks, has writers who specifically contribute content about Korean drama. Why wouldn’t they? Everybody knows that Korean entertainment is taking over the globe. As a Kdrama contributor for PopGeeks (since January 2023), I often contrast and compare my reviews with other sites that publish similar content to make sure I am keeping up! In previous years, most of the Korean dramas on my watch list were movies and TV series found on Netflix, Viki, and Tubi TV. But for Christmas 2023, I gifted myself with subscriptions to Disney Plus/Hulu, and Amazon Prime. The lineup for Kdramas scheduled for release in 2024 was too tempting to pass up. All of these streaming platforms are in fierce competition and the gifted subscriptions were needed because the K-dramas on my watch list were not on the other platforms. OR … they were
This Week’s Potential Buyer Of Paramount: Sony
Competition is good, and necessary for a healthy society. If the consumer has fewer options, there is less innovation, higher prices and a lower quality product. Monopolies or oligopolies have never worked out well. So all that being said, don’t shoot the messenger — this news is out of my control. The owners of Paramount really want to sell it. They’re in a bind that is definitely their own fault yet they’d never admit it; the level of Paramount’s debt is surprisingly WORSE than WB’s. They’d love it if someone could take that debt off their hands, and have been looking for buyers for about a year now. WB Discovery was reported as being interested at one point, but seems to have backed off. Thank goodness; reducing the number of movie studios yet again would be terrible. No, wait…this new potential buyer, Sony ALSO owns a studio already, darrrrrrn! Sony is a bit of a curveball, because up to now they’ve kept out of the whole “spend trillions of dollars
Believer (2018) and Believer 2 (2023)
Believer (2018) and Believer 2 (2023) are Korean movies, categorized as Crime, Action and Thriller, and are both streaming on Netflix. In both movies, the bad guys and the good guys are still looking for the mysterious “Mr. Lee”. ♦ Believer (2018): Lee and Laika (Part 1) In “Believer”, Won-Ho, a brave and dedicated detective along with his brave and dedicated investigative team goes deep undercover to try to catch a notorious drug kingpin known as “Mr. Lee”. They have a huge blindspot because … nobody has ever seen “Mr. Lee” so they don’t know what he looks like. It’s not just the good guys who have never seen Mr. Lee. The bad guys don’t know who he is or what he looks like either. Mr. Lee is represented by his most trusted employee, a young man named Seo Young-Rak. This guy is super smart and efficient. He handles everything from the product manufacturing process to selling to customers to shipping to money collection. He does it all FOR Mr.

What Time Is It? Adventure Time: The Roleplaying Game
Adventure Time takes so much inspiration from D&D that you might wonder why it took THIS long for someone to literally put the two things together. Who knows, but it’s finally happened. Cryptozoic has launched a Kickstarter campaign for an official Adventure Time Roleplaying Game that is 5E compatible. How one plays this game is basically identical to how one plays regular D&D…there’s no gameplay reinvention here, nor would there really need to be. At the same time, it’s not just an Adventure Time skin for a D&D module. There’s the core rulebook, Prismo’s Guide To Adventures In Ooo, that establishes the setting and character roles. There are Twist Cards that will introduce random new plot elements to deal with. There are twenty species with twelve subclasses, adventure prompt tables and more. Higher tiers will receive the Adventure Book as a bonus, that contains one major quest to venture into….and some Jake-shaped dice. While Adventure Time: The Roleplaying Game is fine for players of all skill levels, this product actually
